Paul Ryan Rewards Rep. Reed with Campaign Fundraisers for His Disastrous Record of Hurting the Middle Class
Reed has supported a $2,000 tax increase that would harm middle class families to pay for tax cuts for millionaires
Jamestown, New York - Congressman Reed has been voting to rig the system in favor of special interests and millionaires at the expense of working families in the Southern Tier - and now Speaker Ryan is rewarding him for following orders in Washington with campaign cash. Congressman Reed's disastrous record against our working families includes a vote to support a $2,000 tax increase that would harm middle class families to pay for tax cuts for millionaires.
Commander John Plumb, a fourth generation Western New Yorker, U.S. Navy officer, and candidate for Congress in New York's 23rd Congressional District, stated:
"Our working families face difficult challenges every single day, and all Congressman Reed does is prove that he is out for himself time and again. After voting to inflict economic pain on our middle class families with a $2,000 tax increase that would pay for giveaways to millionaires, Congressman Reed is now being rewarded with campaign fundraisers. I'm dedicated to fighting for our working families in Congress because we can't put up with this awful Washington behavior any longer."
Tom Reed has voted in favor of millionaires and billionaires at the expense of working families. In 2014, he voted for the extreme budget which, as the New York Times wrote, "lowers the top tax rate to 25 percent for the wealthiest taxpayers, down from the current 39.6 percent, while raising taxes on middle-class families with children by an average of $2,000."
