Rep. Reed is “Dead Wrong” about Commander Plumb’s Commitment & Service to Our District
Local Veterans Have Denounced Congressman Reed's Ongoing Attacks to Commander Plumb's Service
Jamestown, New York - U.S. Navy Reserve Commander John Plumb, fourth generation Western New Yorker and candidate for Congress in New York's 23rd district, is releasing his campaign's third television advertisement, titled "Here." The ad shows why Congressman Reed doesn't understand service, as his latest attack ad continues his campaign's core theme of distastefully attacking Commander Plumb for abandoning Western New York while serving in defense of our country.
"I was born and raised here and my family has been in Western New York for four generations. I joined the Navy under President Reagan and I still serve as an officer today," stated Commander Plumb. "And as anyone who has ever served knows, when the orders come you go where they tell you. If Congressman Reed thinks that means Western New York isn't my home, he is dead wrong. For twenty-two years, I've put service to country first and in Congress I will do the same."

Additionally, the following are statements from local veterans that have stood by Commander Plumb throughout Congressman Reed's ongoing attacks:
Local veteran Frank Gawronski said, "Commander John Plumb is a stand-up guy that will work hard and fight to be a champion for New York veterans. As someone that has served myself, I know this because those are the values he has demonstrated through his more than twenty years of military service. On the other hand, Congressman Reed has shown through his disrespectful attacks on John's service and poor voting record that he does not have what it takes to fix the many issues that our former service members face every day."
Local veteran and business owner Mark Puckhaber said, "At 18, I left home to serve in the Navy. I sacrificed so others wouldn't have to, just like Commander John Plumb and the thousands of other veterans in New York. I want to know if Congressman Reed thinks my time in the Navy makes me less of a New Yorker, less a member of the community, less than those who have never worn the uniform - because that's the message that came through loud and clear when he attacked John Plumb and questioned his commitment to New York because John had the courage to go where his country asked him, even when it meant leaving New York, his home, and his family."
Local veteran Robert Yott said, "I am shocked that Congressman Reed continues to disrespect John Plumb and attack his 22 years of defending our country and government. The only thing Tom Reed has done for our government is make it more dysfunctional. Tell me Mr. Reed, how did voting to shut down the Department of Homeland Security make Americans safer?"
Stephen Keefe, the former Mayor of Fredonia, NY and a veteran , said, "The only candidate in this race who is unfit to serve in Congress is Tom Reed. This isn't about his policy positions or his party affiliation. It's because he displays such disrespect for our military men and women who leave their homes and families when our country calls on them to serve. They understand that service to country is more important than service to self - a lesson Congressman Reed has failed to grasp. Reed also fails to understand that the goal of our communities is to welcome our young people back to their homes. Also, to criticize John Plumb's education and experience for political gain shows disregard for our native son or desperation over Mr. Plumb's overwhelming qualifications for Congressman in the 23rd District."
Local veteran James Murphy said, "Congressman Reed has shown us what he truly is: a self-serving Washington politician who would rather denigrate Commander Plumb's military service, than defend his own record in Congress. I didn't fight for and defend my country so cowards like Tom Reed would question the commitment of the men and women who have worn our country's uniform."
