Commander John Plumb Statement on the Strength of those Battling PTSD

Jamestown, New York – The following is a statement from U.S. Navy Commander John Plumb, candidate for Congress in New York’s 23rd district, on the strength of those battling PTSD:

“I have military friends suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I am proud they have had the courage to recognize they need help and in awe of their strength in seeking treatment. Service members struggling to overcome Post Traumatic Stress Disorder are the strongest people I know.

“Those with PTSD deserve the nation's support, and they need to be encouraged to seek treatment. Suggesting otherwise is ignorant, damaging, and can literally cost lives. Anyone insulting service members battling PTSD or discouraging them from seeking treatment is not on the side of our veterans, not on the side of our military families, and has no concept of what leadership requires.”

John Plumb is a member of the United States Navy Reserve. Use of his military rank, job titles, and photographs in uniform does not imply endorsement by the Department of the Navy or Department of Defense.
