Bowzer from Sha Na Na Endorses Plumb in Dunkirk on Senior Issues
Dunkirk, New York – Bowzer from Sha Na Na visited Dunkirk today to endorse John Plumb on behalf of Senior Votes Count, an organization focused on electing leaders who will protect and advance the rights of older Americans.
“I remember growing up watching Bowzer on TV with my Grandma at her house in Jamestown – and it was an honor to receive his endorsement on behalf of Senior Votes Count in Dunkirk today,” said U.S. Navy Captain John Plumb. “In the military, our mission is to protect and defend our country. And in Congress, it will be my mission to protect and defend the vital benefits that our seniors have earned including Social Security and Medicare.”
During the event, Jon “Bowzer” Bauman discussed the importance of protecting social security and Medicare. He also pointed out that Congressman Tom Reed has an exceptionally bad record on senior issues, receiving a 10% voting score from the Alliance for Retired Americans in 2015 and a lifetime voting score of just 8% - including a vote to turn Medicare into a voucher program.
“Tom Reed really has a pretty abysmal record on senior issues,” said Bowzer.
Additionally, Dunkirk Mayor Willie Rosas introduced John Plumb and offered a strong endorsement for his campaign.
Tom Reed supported Georgia's Rep. Tom Price's 2016 budget which makes $5.5 trillion in cuts to many programs important to seniors. It also turns Medicare into a voucher program and severely cuts Medicaid. (H. Con. Res. 27, Roll Call #142, 3/25/15)
