Another day of inaction by Tom Reed is another day suspected terrorists can legally buy weapons in the U.S.
This latest failure comes just weeks after Congressman Reed agreed it would be best for Congress to entirely avoid doing its job by skipping town early instead of having a serious debate on how best to keep weapons out of the hands of suspected terrorists - a discussion Americans of all political stripes agree is desperately needed in our country.
In response to this latest national security failure by Congressman Tom Reed, U.S. Navy Reserve Commander John Plumb, a submarine officer and 4th generation Western New Yorker running for Congress in New York's 23rd Congressional District, released the following statement:
“Every day Congressman Tom Reed continues to support allowing suspected terrorists to legally buy weapons in the United States is another day the safety of each and every New Yorker is unnecessarily compromised in the name of politics.
“I’ve dedicated my life to protecting our country and keeping us safe, both in the Navy and at the Pentagon. And today, I continue that commitment as a Commander in the Navy Reserve. In the military, we don’t walk away before a mission is completed, and we don’t run and hide from difficult tasks - it’s disappointing Congressman Tom Reed can’t say the same.”
