Congressman Tom Reed caught rigging the system against hardworking Southern Tier and Western NY families in favor of his biggest Wall Street funders

Reed recently voted to roll back protections for hardworking families trying to save for retirement. If Reed had his way, Wall Street firms would have been allowed to pad their bottom line at the expense of workers in the Southern Tier and Western New York. Last week’s fundraising report shows Reed has already received more than $100,000 this cycle in special interest money from big banks and the financial industry.

Commander John Plumb, a fourth generation Western New Yorker, U.S. Naval officer, and candidate for Congress in New York's 23rd Congressional District, said in response to the findings, “Congressman Tom Reed has proven again that he is helping millionaires and big banks play by a different set of rules because they are helping his campaign - and he’s doing it at the expense of hardworking families here in the Southern Tier and Western New York.”

“For twenty-two years I have put service to country before myself, in the Navy and at the Pentagon. It’s sad Congressman Reed can’t say the same because we deserve a leader who represents our values, not the broken system in Washington.”

Background:

Tom Reed voted to put the financial industry and big corporations over working Americans and Southern Tier families.

Last month, Reed voted along with his House Republican colleagues to block a new fiduciary rule that requires financial advisors to act in their clients’ best interests when giving financial advice, and bars advisors from ripping off clients in order to increase profits.

In total this cycle, Reed has taken over $100,000 from Wall Street and the financial industry, including thousands of dollars on his most recent campaign finance report.
